project type: renovation and extension
location: eastville, bristol
size: 87m2
Whole house renovation of a 2 bed victorian terrace including an 18m2 rear extension. Most walls, ceilings and floors were stripped back to the original structure to remedy years of damage by non breathable coatings and to allow wall and floor insulation to be installed.
Light, was a priority throughout so well placed roof lights were added to bring natural light into areas far from the outside. A new solid wood kitchen was built and most internal finishes are bare lime plaster.
project type: extension
location: bedminster, bristol
size: 24m2
Set on a steeply sloping site, the extension was stepped up by half a metre from the rest of the original 1930’s house to bring it closer to the garden. The customer is creating a wildlife haven in the garden around with a pond, fruit trees and wildflowers so the addition has been designed to provide a contrasting backdrop for all the colour to come.
The extension is timber frame with wood fibre insulation to provide a lightweight building that retains good thermal mass. Alongside our team the customer has begun airtightnessing and insulating the rest of the property and plans to add external wall insulation, to the rest of the property, and an air source heat pump in time.
